Big Bear Lake – Nicole & Michael’s Engagment

February 11, 2008 | Filed Under Engagement  by emi |

We always love shooting new places and getting out of LA, so we we’re thrilled with Nicole’s idea of doing their engagement session in Big Bear. Her parents have a beautiful cabin up there, so we started the day with some cozy, natural shots inside before moving outside to show the beautiful surroundings of the mountains. We headed out to find some spots to shoot, trying to avoid the traffic on the main roads and ended up finding a beautiful field at the end of the lake that butted up against a small air strip. It was pretty neat because at one point we had about 6  P-51’s fly right over us so low that we didn’t think they were going to clear the fence! Pretty Crazy. Nicole & Michael were up for anything, jumping, running, snow ball fights, snow angels, oh and they are UNO addicts so we had to get a few of them in action.

After pizza (and wine) in the cabin where we got to know them a little better, we all headed out for some snowball fighting.  They were so much fun to be around and such good hosts. I loved being outside in the quiet snow, although neither of us were prepared for deep snow with our converse and my toes nearly froze off,  but it was so worth the shots.

Thanks again for a great day guys.

You weren’t kidding about the planes- the picture with one just above their heads is crazy! Looks like such a fun and relaxed shoot; I love the idea of shooting at a cozy cabin in the snow. Very cool (pun intended)!

GREAT photos! I love them… the color is so vibrant! The blues are so blue… etc. (That isn’t a P-51 by the way… though it is some WWII plane… haha ;) Sorry… I’m a bit of an aviation freak) We cant wait to work with you again in May! Thanks again for the great engagement session!
