I checked the mail yesterday and opened a wedding invite from our good friends (and clients) Kris & Cori, and I was super stoked on how they had turned out. It was especially interesting after hearing some of the details about what went into the their design & production. First let me say, that Kris is an amazing graphic designer, and so naturally all of his talents were poured into this little project with obvious vested interests, and much to his good fortune, he pulled off the design with flying colors (lots of greens). So I called him and asked if I could blog his creation which I’m sharing with you now. For those of you have the fortitude to attempt a do-it-yourself project like this, the rewards, and the experience, can be quite fulfilling, however there are plenty of very talented people that can guide you through the process, right up to the folded and pressed finish.

Kris & Cori happened to know a friend ( Kristen Johansen) that runs a Vandercook 4 press out of her home studio, and so they were invited to be a part of the printing process as well. Although I don’t know her personally, I’ve heard wonderful things about her. If you’re interested in her services you can email her at kia@bossanova dot com. Not only are we really looking forward to partying with good friends, but Kris & Cori are getting married in Breckenridge Colorado so that will give us a little out of state time. For now, check out the masters handiwork.

Everyone likes travel pics, and we’ve already been asked several times to post some from our time out in New England, so we’ve put together a few for the blog.
We wanted to experience the 6 states (NY, CT, MA, RI, ME, and VT) that we drove through for their true beauty without having destinations or itineraries, so that sight, smell, and whimsy accounted for our experiences. Each day we jumped in our rental car and drove, with no real destination, to see all that we could. We stopped everywhere, randomly. We photographed everything. And when our time drew close to ending, we found ourselves 2 states away, and only 6 hours left before our flight left without us from JFK. Lets just say that, had Vermont been any larger, or the roads longer and more windy, we’d have missed our flight by a lot more than 2 hours. Thats right, we still totally missed it. And we thought L.A. had bad traffic during rush hour. Anyhow, what we did see and experience was amazing, and we already can’t wait to go back (maybe eventually to live) to these beautiful states. Vermont’s amazing roads begged for a sports car, but my rental manned up and got the job done!

I shot this for my dad. This one shot might just encompass everything that he would be about on a Saturday afternoon.

Emi went running super early in the morning in Massachusetts and found a couple of really sweet beach access spots among the vacation homes. It was really really cold here.

Early morning light seems to make all the difference when capturing those photos that just beg for attention. Emi grabbed this one with the IR in Maine.

Driving through Vermont early in the morning the fog covered everything in a blanket, almost like a heavy snowfall. This is one of my favorite images from the trip, along with another fog image.

Emi grabbed this sunrise in Maine, again after a short run she had the best spots picked out for photo ops.

I absolutely love fog like this. This is about 6:00am in Vermont.

We had pulled over to get a shot of a lighthouse (which you’ll see below) and I turned around to see the sun coming through this beach house on the cliff.

This was on our last day as we raced through Vermont. I almost didn’t pull over, but as we drove the scene just kept getting more unreal, so we actually turned around to go back and get this photo.

This is what we had come to see, the bright colors that New England is famous for in the fall.

I had to grab a shot of this old car parked outside of this beach house. On the other side of the road the beach came right up to the sea grass. I’ll take a place like this!

I forgot the name of this lighthouse, but it didn’t seem real. Like a little mini version out on the rocks.

We stopped to grab a couple photos of a crab shack, and Emi found this canoe filled with apples that had fallen from the overhanging tree.

There are signs like this all over the smaller towns. Such a cool thing to still have small handmade wooden signs guiding you.

The light was coming through the trees in bands as we drove through the mountains, so we pulled over and I grabbed a few shots of the trees that were closest to the road.

This was that same morning with the intense fog, and we had driven for a while to find this covered bridge (popular in VT).

I don’t know why, but I love this shot. Something about the juxtaposition of the natural beauty with the old dilapidated dock.

Emi, my brother Jonathan and I watched Reign Over Me tonight, which Jonathan has been trying to get me to watch for a while now.
I was blown away. Honestly, I haven’t seen a movie this good in years. In fact, I would say that it’s probably one of the best movies I have ever seen. It’s so real, and deals with so many levels of emotion, and the acting is seriously amazing. I absolutely love Don Cheadle, but Adam Sandler scored some major points in my book. Easily the best performance of the year. So for those of you that like to laugh and cry in the same movie, this is a must see!
