A blogless island

A few times a year we find ourselves on a blog hiatus. We never know when it will start, or how long it will last, but we inevitably always end up in a period free from the ever reaching tentacles of the blog world. And we enjoy this time immensely. Like one would a vacation. In fact, we see ourselves sipping cool drinks with mini umbrellas during this time away from the blog. We sit and muse jokingly about the one food source we would choose if were to end up stranded on this blogless island, until of course, we realize that we miss home, and that our vacation has gone a little too long. So we pack our things, and head for home. And now my dear reader, our vacation is over, our fingers have found their place again atop these crisp white keys, and we’re home. Until the next vacation, enjoy this run of posting.
ANNA’S GETTING MARRIED!!!
April 20, 2009 | Filed Under Engagement, Friends, Personal, Portrait by emi | 2 Comments
Our very own Anna is engaged! Several months ago actually, and she’s getting married next month! We are super excited for her and Jake. Anna has worked for us for the past year and a half doing design work for our studio and helping with all of our processing. She is AMAZING! and we absolutely love her, couldn’t survive without her. She’s been such a blessing to our evoke family this past year and we couldn’t be happier for her and Jake to start their life together.
We did a little studio session with them a few months ago, and Anna designed her Save the Date card. We thought we’d share this cuteness with you. We just shot their engagement session last week, which we’ll be posting soon, so stay tuned… cause they are HOT!!

AMGEN Tour of California – Palomar Mountain CA
February 26, 2009 | Filed Under Editorial, Personal by emi | 11 Comments
My parents, sister and her husband all live on Palomar Mountain, and when they heard that the mountain would be hosting the last 96.8 miles of the AMGEN race for the first year, it was an opportunity and experience I couldn’t miss. The bikers had to race up the gut-busting snow caped mountain reaching a 5,123 foot elevation with 21 switchbacks, and I was shocked at the speed they maintained near the top. Lance Armstrong returned to race and his teammate Levi Leipheimer who won his third straight Tour of California. I had fun documenting the festivities before the bikers came up and I (along with hundreds of others) was thoroughly entertained by some of the characters present. People camped out the night before, pitching tents and staking out spots with chairs and trailers along the side of the narrow road. We had a blast!

Our mountaintop entertainment!

This group of guys was hillarious, they covered their hands in yellow chalk, targeting bikers buns as they struggled to the top.

Along with this officer, the next guy got it good!

Hundreds of people tried to run next to the bikers, but these two were unforgettable.

We could see the bikers below on the switchbacks!

Lance is on the right! He finished 7th in the race overall.

Thanks to the Stephenson’s for letting us share their reserved spot!
