Mariko & Doyin – Diamond Bar

There is such a neat story behind this wedding. Mariko and her sister Aiko met with us to book for both of their weddings because they were getting married in the same year. Mariko was in August, and Aiko in November, so we were really excited to meet and get to know everyone at Mariko & Doyin’s wedding (both Aiko and her fiance Graham were in the bridal party), and then to get to see them all again in just a few short months!! It was like something out of a movie to have two sisters planning their wedding’s side by side, with only a few months between their dates! Both Mariko and Doyin are such sweethearts, and we could tell from their engagement session that we were going to have such a great time with them!   I don’t think I’ve ever met a groom with such a big heart as Doyin, and you can tell from his constant smile that spans to both ears, that he’s got a great outlook on life. When we arrived at the church Doyin introduced me to his identical twin brother (and when I say identical I’m not kidding!!) who had just as big a smile!  I could only tell the two apart by the color of their ties, and if they were standing directly next to each other, Doyin is just a hair taller than his brother. This lighthearted crew made for quite the party, and it got even better when Doyin and his brother decided to pull of the twin-brother switch, and give their toasts as each other!! At the end of the toast, Doyin annouced that he was in fact his brother, and that they had pulled off the ultimate prank on Mariko. This was so hilarous to watch because you really couldn’t tell if they were serious. This went on for a few minutes, until everyone took their que from the bride who called their bluff! Turns out, they just said they switched, but you coulda fooled me!  These guys defitely knew how to have a good time, and it was a blast to be there with them.  I love how natural and romantic their images are.  Be sure to check out the dance photo sequence, cause the part was just getting started! Enjoy.

Tricia & Raul – Rancho Capistrano

May 9, 2009 | Filed Under Wedding by michael | Leave a Comment

Tricia & Raul were married at one of our favorite places, Rancho Capistrano! Ok, so maybe we’re a bit partial because it’s where Emi & I got married. Honestly though, we love love love outdoor ceremonies, and the scenery and light that comes with them. The sloping hill with the view of the lake at Rancho Capistrano is no exception, with the trees gently shifting in the wind, and the light settling over the last set of palms and eucalyptus as it fades for the day is just about as perfect as you could ask for. Raul was just beaming with anticipation, waiting to see his bride, and you can see the joy in his eyes as he looks at her during their vows. Tricia looked absolutely amazing in her dress, and from the time she saw Raul she was all smiles for the rest of the day. There are weddings that we wish never ended, that somehow we could continue to spend more time being a part of a couple’s journey at it’s most intimate, and it’s most rewarding begining, and this was definitely one of those times. I was truly humbled by who Raul was, and how he treated Tricia, and it was honor to be there, to participate, and to give something back. Enjoy.

Headshots – Going Green

April 25, 2009 | Filed Under Wedding by michael | 3 Comments

So I came out the back door the other day, and I noticed this little guy staring up at me. If you’ve encountered one of these, then you know how crazy it is to see those little beady eyes looking back, and then watch as their whole head turns to follow your every move. I was so mesmerized, that I ran back in to grab my camera for a few headshots. Of course he obliged, and gave me a few great images. Enjoy.
