Peter & Faye – La Venta Inn, Pacific Palisades

I’m on a blog roll!
A while back we shot at La Venta Inn which is a gorgeous location with a very intimate feel. This really suited Faye and Peter. Peter’s brother got ordained and performed the ceremony, which was really special and emotional. Fay’s sister surprised them with a slideshow presentation. You’ll see all the laughs in the last image; there were also a lot of tears. Faye & Peter live in New York, and have offered to show us the city next time we’re out, maybe this fall. Thanks guys, you were great!

Matthew & Helene

Matt is our banker, so we’ve developed a really cool relationship with him over the past two years. I see Matt at least once a week and I remember the day he told me he was getting engaged. When he got engaged to Helene, he really wanted to work with someone they knew, and we were thrilled when they asked us to be their photographers!
Matt attended USC, so it was very fitting for us to do the session there. It’s a great location for variety. I love the light and color in the first image, and the shot of them walking down the path.

Michael experimented a bit with textures, so here’s a few of my own.

Dustin & Teresa – L.A. Arboretum

I did an engagement session with Dustin & Teresa a few weeks backs, and they had really wanted to do it at the L.A Arboretum because it was where he had proposed, so we headed over just before sunset and grabbed some amazing images of the light coming through the trees. If you’ve ever been to the L.A. Arboretum you’ll know that it’s pretty much a jungle and it’s easy to get back in there and not see anyone for a while, which makes it a great spot for getting good photos. I really wanted to experiment with some of these photos because they already had such a natural feel, so I decided to try out some textures on a few (courtesy of Jesh). Check out the few at the bottom.

Here’s an example of my first edit, and then the same shot with the Jesh textures applied.

I also really wanted to create the look of an old tintype or daguerreotype, so I played around a bit with this image to get that feel.
