We photographed Angel & Jonathan’s wedding at Harry Houdini’s Mansion! The looming castle sits on 3.5 acres with over a mile of rock lined paths and full of secret passages, bridges, arches and staircases. The luxury and tranquility of this on-of-a-kind estate from Hollywood’s illustrious past created the perfect setting for Angel & Jon’s wedding, retaining the ambiance of the regions early glory days and setting the stage for a rocking party! Angel and Jon were such troopers in the heat that day as we made our way around the property in search of great photo opportunities, and they were so cute together! After a gorgeous open air ceremony by the pond, all the guests moved to a lower courtyard for dinner and dancing. Angel wore four beautiful dresses that day, and ended the evening in a modern silky blue gown which she wore to the after party inside the mansion. I stayed late to grab a few of the party pics… and of course to taste some of the yummy catered goodies!

We always love the opportunity to make images, and when Minah contacted us a few months before her wedding to ask for a separate bridal fashion shoot, we of course loved the idea! We jumped on the 110 for downtown L.A. and then buzzed around to find the settings for our images. The only thing I wish for (and I think that any photographer would agree ) is an extension of that 15 minute window of amazing evening light that comes and then fades too quickly.  Both Minah and Colin had no trouble making this session a fashion shoot. I still remember the first time Shannon called me. She was calling from Pennsylvania, telling me how much she loved our images, and wanted us to photograph her Laguna wedding. We didn’t meet until the day of her wedding, but I instantly felt like I knew her simply from our phone conversation. Her genuine excitement for her wedding, our work, and the combination of the two was overwhelmingly contagious causing me to look forward to the day 10 months in advance! and their day was beautiful. Shannon works as an interior designer, and her eye for style definitely transferred to the wedding. I loved her head piece, the back of her dress and Scott’s suit was killer. His face in some of these images of Shannon coming down the isle is so precious. He was actually moved to tears as soon as their song started, before he even saw his bride, testifying to their authentic love.
